We are proud to carry Uprising Seeds
(Monarda citriodora) A member of the mint family, this perennial flowering herb is native across much of the United States and Mexico. Vertically stacked whorls of impossibly vibrant purple flowers prove irresistible to bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and just buzz with pollinators (hence another common name for it, ôbee balmö). The young leaves and flowers are edible and have been long used to lend a lemony-citrusy taste to herbal teas, sweets, and even liquors.
ALL SEEDS ARE 100% OPEN-POLLINATED, CERTIFIED ORGANIC BY THE USDA,
AND GROWN BY SMALL FAMILY FARMS IN THE PNW
Uprising Seeds is proud to have been Washington’s first 100% Certified Organic seed company. We are farmers first, and the majority of our work is still in the fields: performing variety trials, improving and breeding crops, and producing seed. On any given year we produce over half of the seeds we sell at our home farm, Uprising Organics, just north of Bellingham, WA. The remainder of our varieties are sourced from our fantastic network of family farms in Washington, Oregon, N. CA and Idaho. Our growers are among the best and most experienced in the Organic Seed trade and our gratitude towards them is tremendous.
