Summer Care- Fruit Trees & Vineyards

Available

Saturday June 3, 10:30am-12:30pm Limited to 20 per class, preregistration required. The workshop is mostly outside, so dress for the weather.

There are lots of mid-summer tasks to do in the vineyard and orchard. Summer pruning on fruit trees can save time and headaches during dormant season pruning. Learn how to thin fruit and prune your fruit trees and grape vines for best fruit quality.

  • Please note, this workshop will take place mostly outside of the classroom environment for up to 2 hours and involves walking 45 minutes or more and standing on uneven and unpaved ground. If you would like us to provide seating for you during this time outside, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance of the workshop. Wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility aids are welcome but in some areas may be difficult (unpaved or grassy areas). Please get in touch with us directly if you have concerns or questions about your aid on the unpaved and uneven ground. Email us or call 360-966-5859
  • By attending this workshop you are agreeing to our Events Code of Conduct.
  • Workshop refunds: refunds will be offered for cancelled classes, refunds are not issued for no-shows. If you’ve registered for a class and cannot make it to the class, call us at least 3 days in advance to arrange a credit or refund.

This workshop walks you through best practices for managing your vineyard in the hot summer months. The class will cover shoot positioning, summer pruning, bunch thinning, water management, and disease management. All of these techniques are critical to the production of quality grapes for eating and winemaking. Be prepared to be outside.

Shipping Information

The Nursery at Cloud Mountain Farm Center is primarily a nursery for local and regional walk-in customers. We do have a limited shipping season for out of the area customers.

USPS ZonesWe ship plants from mid-February to late April to all states within the U.S., as weather and state agricultural restrictions permit. Because we are unable to guarantee the success and health of your plant outside of the U.S., we do not currently ship to other countries.

Since we do not use cold storage, some plants only ship best at certain times or are only available for local pick-up. If you are in the Midwest, East Coast, or Alaska, we may not be able to ship dormant plants if we are concerned about the quality of your plants upon arrival.

We only ship orders once a week, with packages leaving our local post office on Tuesdays. We will communicate your scheduled shipping date in your order confirmation. This allows us proper time to package your order carefully and account for any sudden weather changes.

We ship by USPS Priority Mail to help ensure your plants arrive quickly and in good health. All shipping costs are calculated based on USPS shipping zones. To learn more about your shipping zone, visit the USPS website.
