Summer is a great time to successfully propagate from cuttings as well as graft fruit trees by chip budding. áWe will discuss and demonstrate the principles and process of chip bud grafting as well as how to clonally propagate many types of woody plants through softwood cuttings. You will gain confidence to put these new skills to use.

Summer season budwood collection: … Cut budwood early in the day. Immediately remove leaves and put budwood into a plastic bag with a damp paper towel (to keep the humidity as high as possible), enclose fully and wrap tightly.
- Please note, this workshop will take place partially outside of the classroom environment for up to 2 hours and involves walking 45 minutes or more and standing on uneven and unpaved ground. If you would like us to provide seating for you during this time outside, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance of the workshop. Wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility aids are welcome but in some areas may be difficult (unpaved or grassy areas).
