An evergreen biennial with silvery, ghostly, thistle-like flowers on upright stems in mid to late summer. Best in a well-drained soil in full sun. Readily self-seeds. Best when transplanted young or grown from seed. Named after the English gardener Ellen Willmott, who surreptitiously spread seeds in gardens she visited.
Hardy to zone 4
